A slightly modified alternative of the classic. From Melchsee next to the mountain station, you continue leisurely to Tannensee and from there to Tannenalp. Here, however, you do not turn down to Engstlen, but keep on the alpine road in the direction of Graustock and Schwarzhorn. Soon you come to a small, idyllic lake in which the surrounding mountains are reflected. Here you should definitely take a break and enjoy the silence, because you won’t find other people here. By the way, this lake has no name on the maps. Afterwards, one continues hiking in the direction of Schaftal/Jochpass and then descends in the direction of Engstlen. The descent is entertaining and offers great views into the Engstlen valley and to the deep blue Engstlen lake. Be sure to keep an eye on the clock, because on this top hike it is very easy to forget the time…
